Weird Photo Obsession

Fans of the Thursday caption contest may be interested in this post about how I used to steal loads of other people's pictures while working at a photo-lab.

Other than that I wrote nothing of much interest last year, this last week.

Man, you're so "one hour photo" except maybe with better hair.

I was a photojournalist in the USAF and one of my favorite things to do was catch officers in compromising positions on film. I would go to base picnics, for example, and take pictures of the base commander with his mouth wide open shoving a hot dog in his mouth (long zoom lense used as I hid behind a tree). I had a deal with the guy at the base photo lab so it was all good and done in secret. Until one day when I decided to be stupid and put such a photo on the front page of the base newspaper. It was of a particular captain (junior officer) who had pissed me off. I published a photo of him at the gym straining to lift some dumbells ... and his package was poking through his Zuba's but had a strange curve to it and looked like he had a swollen breaded mushroom in his crotchal regions... long story short, I was yelled at in public, the newspapers were all confiscated, I was docked a couple months pay ... but my direct supervisor (an enlisted guy) laughed his ass off with me over a beer a few weeks later. I have no proof of any of this because "they" took it all before I got out in 1997. AL

Zoomie from the 80's!!! 32854 - Doppler/INS/Celestial Nav Systems ----------------------------------------- Rhein Main AFB (talk about BIER!!!) -- EC/MC/RC/C-130s, C-141, C-9A, [and 7thSOS] Offutt AFB -- EC/RC/KC-135s, E-4A/B (pre-Air Force One [had the button]) Beale AFB -- SR-71, U-2, KC-135Q (what a way to finish, eh?!) Now, I support my local 129th Rescue SQ as the VP Communications for my local AFA Tennessee Ernie Ford Chapter #361. I also have an official LinkedIn group for retired, separated, and active duty USAF (only) who use LinkedIn. USAFNetwork is the group, if you use LinkedIn, lemme know, join us! One side story: 'cause we had a nav system that reqired purging of all _regular_ air, we had huge liquid->gaseous nitrogen tank system. We'd connect the hose and release the gas forcing regular air out. Well, we used to ... uhhh ... "freeze" the catch of the day (local cockroach) and time how long it took for it to defrost and begin crawling across the workbench ... :) Yeah, that is light-weight, but I cannot tell other stories (people might hear us!). Jason there's a reason the frogs are beating your ass at EC. You're a PhotoBooth Perv! I'm so excited! I never thought I'd really meet one of you. You're like the wisping mist in the negatives, the light-fingered geek behind the plastic window...but cuter.
