Furries' Guide To BDSM

Sexy furrie 4uI would say that I'm more tolerant than the average guy but there are some things that I just don't get. It's the things that I understand the least that tend to fascinate me the most.

Furries have always been pretty high up on this list but I found a PDF document today (don't ask how) that's set a new benchmark.

"Advice for Furries new to BDSM Events" outlines the etiquette of attending a Furry BDSM party thing - they're called...

...wait for it...

...Dog & Pony Shows! <~~FREAKIN' AWESOME!!

Below is the entire document for your reading pleasure...

Advice for Furries new to BDSM Events
  • These notes are for Furries and others who aren’t used to BDSM events, such as a “Dog and Pony Show”.
  • Etiquette is slightly different between the social areas and the play spaces. Avoid talking so that BDSM scenes can hear you.
  • Dungeon Monitors (DMs) perform a lifeguard function, assisting safety. They are usually marked by an orange bandanna while on duty. Take any questions or issues to them. Obey them.
  • Nudity and provocative clothing is perfectly acceptable. It is not an invitation to touch, gawk, or make comments. What do you say to a naked person? The same as you’d say to them if they were dressed.
The play areas are special ritual spaces. Avoid distracting or intruding on any scene:
  • Keep beyond reaching distance of any scene, including the people, furniture, toys, and other belongings.
  • Don’t join in a scene without a very explicit invitation, even if you think you see people joining in freely.
  • After a scene, allow at least twenty minutes before requesting to talk with any participants. It takes at least that long for afterglow.
  • Be tolerant of all genders, orientations, roles, and play styles. We're a diverse group.
  • People have greatly differing reasons for play, and styles of relationship. Don’t assume that anyone is poly, a swinger, or kinky.
  • Animal play (pony play, dog play, etc.) is mainly about becoming the animal, in spirit. It is also about the power exchange with the trainer(s) and other animals.
  • Experienced bottoms get deep into animal headspace, which is non-verbal. Don’t try to engage them in human conversation. Limit your words to things like “nice doggy” and “pony want an apple slice?”
  • Humans interacting with animal play are called owner, trainer, handler, wrangler, etc. as appropriate.
  • Animal play generally moves around. Some animals may be on leash, reins, or voice control. Others wander about “at pasture” – that’s normal. Part of animal play is interacting with other animals and the environment.
  • Small animals (dogs, puppies, kittens) like a place to romp, such as a mattress, wresting mats, or thick carpet. Often it is vigorous brat play.
  • Animals give consent by moving/staying close. They withdraw consent by moving away, growling, barking, stamping, biting or kicking. Words are not required.
  • Avoid inadvertently pestering an animal, either by proximity, or by insisting on human conversation. That can ruin the scene.

I swear on a stack of stolen Gideon bibles that this story is true: 1997, I worked part time for a tuxedo shop. We had an average 15-25 weddings per weekend, and a primary responsibility of mine was to drop off last minute repairs, alterations, etc. at these events. I headed out for a wedding at local foothills reception site, and when I got there, the Bride and Groom and several of the guests were dressed as mascots (I had no idea what furries were then.) I had to wait around for about an hour to have some latecoming groomsmen try on their ties and cummerbunds, and while I was waiting a woman who was a cousin of the bride told me in EXPLICIT detail all about the furries, and some of the terms they used to describe furry sex. *shudder* When the groomsmen arrived 2 of the 3 were also furries, and I had to keep from breaking into hystercal laughter while adjusting their cummerbunds and ties. The best mention of it I've seen since is in this last season of Entourage, where Turtle and Drama run into a hot one in the "Anything Goes" section of Craig's List. SA

Um...not really. Right? Ew...it makes me think of those stuffed animals my kids had in their room. Matted fur. Stinky. Totally gross. At a wedding? Naw...

Shh - secret time...

I dated a furrie before Gorilla and I hooked up....  things were okay until I stumbled upon his porn collection.  Grown women dressed as horses...  not my cup of tea.  I will admit that there are a few hot furrie pictures out there - not in the porn - but tastefully done.  Did I mention that there's a furrie expo in the next few months in the Chicago land area. Could make for a good time.

Yep, seen it. There's an old MTV special out there somewhere too. I would say to search youtube but you won't be able to un-see the things you'll find while searching "furries" there.

@Amelia
More like "pony want some tranquilizers?" - that's how I roll.

@SA

With a link name like that you should tag it with either a NSFW or a SFW before one inadvertently clicks on it at work ;)

Well congrats you have found the same advise that is provided to all new visitors to BDSM events. Just explicitly for Furs. Nothing new here, nothing interesting. Of course not all Dog and Pony shows have furries in attendance. In fact I know a few people into pony play, specifically, who would never consider themselves Furs. Furs make up such a small portion of the BDSM lifestyle that this is good advise. No, Meelah, Seriously. Puppy and Pony play is often about being an animal. Dog and Pony shows are mostly NON-Anthropomorphic play, your average Furry speaks English, and the difference is huge. A Fur new to the scene would probably have a tendency to try to talk with the players just like anyone at an Anthro-con. So the advice not to disrupt the scene in such a manner is very good advise. Meelah, Seriously, this is the same advise any new player in the scene gets, just over emphasizing the animal play aspect. Lastly to Virtualme had the guide you just linked to about 6 years ago it probably would have saved a very important relationship for me. Because as it says "But she wants me to spank her! I don't want to hurt her."

Wow, Dog, and Pony show. This seems like a bad place to bring children, the elderly, PETA, or radical christians, SOUNDS FUN!

When I was a kid Roxette were the most popular band in the world (at least for me). In the early 90's, when they were riding high on a commercial success of their thrid studio LP "Joyride", I started discovering Roxette's past albums and "Look Sharp!" was the one that caught my 646-363 attention right after the first listen. I had bought it cheaply on the cassette and soon it became one of the most-played albums in my collection (along with Paula Abdul's "Spellbound" and Madonna's "True Blue"). After twenty-plus years I'm still convinced, that "Look Sharp!" ranks among the finest straight Pop albums of the 80's. Song after song what we experience are great hooks, memorable melodies, easy to sing 640-553  along lyrics and poppy arrangements. Of course for music purists Roxette and their output might be considered of low quality, because they don't sing about social problems, nor they perform sophisticated, elitist, alternative like music. But judgeing Pop music by these standards is not what it should look like. Pop music is about melody 642-642  and catchiness and these two ingredients are perfectly incorporated into Roxette's music. Sugary? Commercial? Sure it is, but who can resist irresistible melodies of "Listen To Your Heart",  646-204  "The Look" or harmonica solo on "Dangerous"? I can't, that's why I still listen to "Look Sharp!".
