Babel Trailer

According to the stories of the Bible, the Tower of Babel was a tower built by a united humanity to reach into the heavens. Yet they were only seeking to make a name for themselves instead of worshipping the God who created them. Because of this open defiance, God stopped their efforts by confusing languages so that no man could understand another. As a result, they could no longer communicate and work was halted. The builders were then scattered to different corners of the Earth. This story is used to explain the existence of many different languages and races. The tower of Babel was never finished.

It's disturbing how big of a man-crush I have on Brad Pitt. I find myself uncontrollably drawn to his movies like wife is drawn to coupons. Babel will be coming out this fall and it looks really good (see trailer below). It's written by Guillermo Arriaga and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu the writer and director combo from 21 Grams and Amores Perros. I'm excited about it but also concerned that the "multiple storylines of people who unexpectedly cross paths and have a profound effect on each other" theme of the previous movies may be getting a little tired. I'll give it a shot - if only because that's what Brad wants me to do.

Here's an interview with Babel screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga about working on the film, and events from his past that have inspired his work. Pretty cool. You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/27sl4a
